Arch1101 Blog-Post 1 ~ Pre-First Lecture by VincentChen
Before my first lecture for the Arch1101 course, I need to post 3 pictures: my best piece of creative artwork, a great piece of architecture and an original photo of something beautiful. So here they are!
1.
This first artwork is of an Roman arch known as the "Arch of Constantine", which was a historical symbol of Roman architecture. This structure encompasses both Greek elements such as columns as well as Roman elements such as arches. The medium used for this artwork is watercolours.
2.
The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, designed by the architects Ryue Nishizawa and Kazuyo Sejima (collectively known as SANAA) was established in 2004. It is located in the urban landscape of Kanazawa City, Japan. Transparent glass is a major material utilised for walls and room construction to create the brightness and tranquillity of building. The transition between the exterior and interior is minimised and a sense of openness and invitation is evoked.
3.
Here is a photo of a sunset I took whilst kayaking. The sun sets behind the land and boats casting a beautiful silhouette. The yellow glow fades into a pale blue sky whilst reflecting off the light waves. It is quite a splendid view.
The next part of this task it to find images from 3 companies/designers and describe them with a noun, verb and adjective
1.
Jeff Wright (http://cocstreetbikes.blogspot.com.au/) ~ Wheels/Spin/Slick
2.
Givency Nightingale Bag ~ Container/tessellate/bold
3.
Cafe Paci ~ Beef/consume/hungry
